Privacy policy
This policy covers the DevWake app for Android and this website, devwake.pacsix.com. DevWake is made by Pack6 LLC ("we", "us"). If you have a question about it, write to us at contact email to be added.
- There's no account. We never ask for your name, email, phone number or location.
- Your alarms, labels, answers and stats stay on your phone.
- By default the app sends anonymous usage stats and crash reports so we can fix bad challenges and alarms that ring late. You can turn this off in Settings.
- No ads, no advertising ID, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising.
- "Delete everything" in Settings removes your data from your phone and from our server.
What stays on your phone
Your alarms and their labels, schedules and sounds, your answers to challenges, your streak and stats, and your settings are stored only on your phone. The challenges themselves are downloaded to your phone, so the alarm works without a connection. Android's own backup may copy this app data to your Google account, as it does for most apps; that copy is handled by Google, and you control it in your phone's backup settings.
What the app sends to us
When the app first needs to send something, it creates a random anonymous ID for your install. Everything below is linked to that ID, not to you: we don't know your name, email or Google account.
Usage stats and crash reports (on by default, you can turn them off)
With Settings › Share anonymous usage stats on, the app sends:
| What | Details | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Challenge results | Which challenge was served, whether you got it right, how long it took, which attempt it was, and whether it was an alarm or practice | Find challenges that are wrong, confusing, too hard or too easy |
| Alarm delivery | When an alarm was scheduled, how late it fired, how it ended (solved, snoozed, emergency stop, missed), how many challenges it needed and how long it rang. Not your labels. | Make sure alarms ring on time on every kind of phone |
| Days active | The dates you opened the app or an alarm rang | Know whether people keep using DevWake |
| Crash reports | The error, where in the code it happened, the app version and thread name | Fix crashes |
| Device basics | Phone manufacturer (for example "Samsung"), Android version and app version. Not the model or any device identifier. | Spot problems specific to a phone maker or Android version |
Turn this off at any time in Settings. Nothing more is sent after that; what was already sent stays until you delete it (see below).
Things you choose to send
- Flagging a challenge: the challenge, the reason you picked and the note you wrote, if any. These are sent even with usage stats off, because you asked to send them.
- Bug reports and feature requests (Settings › Issues & roadmap): what you write, and your votes on the roadmap. If you leave "Attach diagnostics" on, the report also includes the app version, phone manufacturer and model, Android version, whether the alarm permissions are granted, the alarm volume and which challenge packs are installed; the app shows you this before you send it. Please don't put personal information in a report.
Downloading challenges
The app checks for new challenge packs and downloads them. These requests send nothing about you.
Buying DevWake Pro
Purchases are made through Google Play. Google handles payment under its own privacy policy, and we never see your card or your Google account details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether you have Pro. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous RevenueCat ID, your purchase and subscription history for DevWake, the app and Android version, your device's language and region and, like any server, your IP address. It also receives which Play Store link the app was installed from, if any (for example, a link we posted on a forum), so we can see which links work. The app does not give RevenueCat the advertising ID or any other device identifier.
This website
The website has no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. It's hosted by Netlify, which, like any web host, processes your IP address and browser details to serve the pages and keeps them briefly in its logs.
Who processes the data
We use these service providers. They process data for us, under contract, only to provide their service:
- Supabase: our database and server (usage stats, crash reports, flags, bug reports, your anonymous ID). Its request logs include IP addresses.
- RevenueCat: Pro purchases and subscription status.
- Google: Google Play purchases and app distribution.
- Netlify: website hosting.
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for advertising.
Why we use it
To run the app (download challenges, check Pro, answer your bug reports), to keep alarms reliable and fix crashes, and to improve the challenges. Where the law asks for a legal basis: usage stats and crash reports rely on our legitimate interest in a reliable alarm and correct challenges, which you can object to by switching them off; Pro relies on the contract you enter when you buy; things you send to us rely on your choice to send them.
How long we keep it
Data on our server is kept until you delete it with "Delete everything", or until it's no longer needed to run and improve DevWake. Purchase records are kept by RevenueCat and Google for as long as they're needed for your purchase and for tax and accounting rules.
Your choices and rights
- Stop sending usage stats: Settings › Share anonymous usage stats.
- Delete everything: Settings › Delete everything removes your alarms, history, stats and settings from your phone and, if you're online, everything linked to your anonymous ID on our server: usage stats, crash reports, flags, bug reports and votes. It doesn't cancel a subscription; manage that in Google Play.
- Uninstalling removes the app's data from your phone. Data already on our server stays until deleted, so use "Delete everything" first if you want that gone too.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, and to object to how we use it. Because we don't know who you are, "Delete everything" is the most reliable way to delete your server data. For anything else, including your purchase records at RevenueCat, write to us at contact email to be added and we'll help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
DevWake is for people aged 13 and over. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Security
Everything the app sends is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Challenge packs are signed, and the app checks the signature before installing them. Our server only lets an install read and delete its own data.
Changes
If we change what the app collects, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships. If a change matters, we'll also say so in the app.
